🌿 We’re thrilled to share that Armenia will host the 17th Conference of the Parties (COP17) to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity from 18 to 30 October 2026. The timing – and the location! – couldn’t be more meaningful.
Just outside Yerevan lies the Erebuni State Reserve, a protected area of global importance. This small but mighty reserve safeguards three out of four wild wheat species, including Triticum urarty, Triticum araraticum and Triticum boeoticum – ancestors of modern cultivated varieties. These genetic treasures, adapted over millennia to Armenia’s harsh and varied climates, hold the key to climate-resilient agriculture and global food security.
As Armenia welcomes the world to COP17, we invite global partners to:
✅ Recognize biodiversity as the foundation for sustainable futures
✅ Invest in ecosystem restoration in real hotspots like Erebuni
✅ Prioritize the protection of wild crop relatives critical for food systems
At Greenvance, we are committed to making this moment count – for Armenia, for the planet, and for future generations.
